    I think its over-priced..
I purchased a 16′ Alum Starcraft older model on a crappy trailer 1 year ago for $100 cash.. No motor and needed work.. I see deals come up all the time on CL.. I think if you look over the course of a month – you will find something similiar for $800..

    EDIT: Thumbs down me?

It’s sounds pretty good depending on the year of boat and engines and what kind of shape the engines are in. see if you and the owner can test drive it on the water before you buy, a compression check on the engines is a good idea.

I think $2500 is a fair deal, if the boat is in good condition and doesn’t leak. Looking around through a few web sites I found that a NEW Johnson 60hp will run from about $3,000 to $4,500, and a Lowrance will probably run from $400 to $700 depending on options. I bought a 1988 15′ Astroglass last year with only a 55hp Suzuki for $2,000. Take the others advice and see if you can take it out on the water first. I didn’t, and discovered that the head gasket was blown and had to spend a little extra money just to get the motor running. Take a good look at the whole boat too, I had to run new wires from the console to the rear since some of them were melted. I kinda got hosed on my first boat purchase. Since then I have also bought and installed 2 Humminbird fish finders and a Minn Kota trolling motor, those 3 things alone were about $1,500. Buying a used boat is like buying a used car, take a good look at the whole thing, take it for a test drive, have some one you trust go with you so you can get their take on it too. And always, if something doesn’t feel right about the boat or the person trying to sell it, be prepared to drop it and walk away. Hope this helps in any way.

Too much money for a 1970 model. You will not be able to ever recoup your money or get equitable trade for your investment. Even if it looks in very good condition, doesn’t leak, motor runs, etc. You have to weigh your investment by what it is actually worth in real value. There is little or no market for boats that old “unless” they have collector value such as the 50s era Chris Craft etc. Starcraft doesn’t quite fall into this category.
I am sorry if this is not what you want to hear but being realistic; It is definitely overpriced. Offer $1,200 to $1,500.00 max.
