An average trolling motor has 35-40 lbs of thrust. It would take even the most enormous, super duty weed whacker to get possibly close to that. Not to mention the time, materials required and how reliable it would probably turn out. Save the time, hassle and materials and get yourself a cheap $150 Minn Kota. It will serve you much better.
